I was so happy, yet so embarassed at the same time.

I've always been told how well I pass, but I always thought it was only when i try.

For the most part, I attend school in boy mode while i get enough funds for FFS and what not.

Today was the first day of class with a professor I've never had before. As he was calling out the names, he came to my name which is a traditional spanish name.

I raised my hand when he said my name and at that he looks at me and says "oh... I always thought *insert name* was a male name"

To which I had to respond "I am a male"

The whole class burst out laughing while the professor apologized profusely.

I was dying of embarassment at being laughed at, but inside I was jumping for joy at the fact that in boy mode i was mistaken for a girl.

Feel more sorry for the professor.

But it must have felt very satisfying.

Similar things would happen to me when I was young. It is kind of a trip at first

You should have played it up, Cassie.  And said something like "Normally it is".

But it is still a thrill to A) being seen as female and B) getting the professor right off the bat.

The class might have been laughing at the professor for the mistake.

But it is still a great feeling.

I'm right there with you Cassie. One of my daughter's friends mixed up her pronouns talking about me this week. The poor kid was far more embarrassed than me. But I had to hide my little backflips of joy inside while I corrected her. I'm not quite ready to be out to her parents and the associated network yet. It's a joy and an embarrassment at once.

But just think... the joy part is the direction you're headed, while the embarrassment aspect fades in the distance in your rear view mirror.

It is interesting. Though I am not living full time yet. I've noticed when I wear a hat most people are ma'aming me. While I do have almost all of my hair still I do have a high square hairline. Something I am looking forward to correcting. But when that is hidden the rest of my hair hangs almost to my shoulders.

I even had a guy at the deli counter say 'excuse me sir' as I was standing in front of the number dispenser. Only to correct himself and say 'I'm sorry. I mean miss.'

It is amazing what happens as we change.

oh you had it so easy. i had it once at the school auditorium right in front of the ENTIRE YEAR and this teacher asked 'will this young lady put something formal over her pt tshirt'...my class starts laughing and that teacher got utterly confused.

That very thing happened to me 3 times over the past Christmas/New Years holidays-once at my own family dinner!! I was doing a few mental backflips of my own.

By the time I went to college I could not pass for a boy, at least not for more than a minute, and I went simply by my first initial.

There WAS confusion about whether I was a boy or a girl and I never said one way or the other!  I even walked a great distance to the only unisex washroom to avoid giving any gender hints. (The only person who knew was the Registrar - but that was 1969 so it was an unusual experience for everyone. LOL!)
