Do you dress in drag?

Yes, I like to.
Yes, but I have to/am forced to.
No.

colormyworld

technically yes, I do dress in drag, but I don't dress in drag to feel feminine or anything, they're just my regular clothes that happen to consist of 'girl' clothes and 'guy' clothes mixed together. Nothing I wear is very girly though, I kind of give off the 'tomboy' vibe as of now... which I guess is ok for now as I'm still living as a 'chick' at the moment...

I did however attempt to wear leggings for my dance class (hey, it's an easy 3 credits) 'cause my sweats were too baggy and falling off me, heh. Seeing myself in that made me want to cry though, so that will not be happening again! That's why they put drawstrings on sweats! That made me feel like I was in drag!

The ultimate goal though, would be able to dress in drag if I wanted to for halloween or something like that and still look like a GUY. That would be amazing!!

Yeah, I was wondering if I was the only one. I don't do it often, trust me its rare, but I don't mind it much.
But hey, everyone has their own thing, no one should judge you.
Its weird, I didn't feel I got treated any different except by my friend.
Its good that you have an understanding and supporting partner.
:]

Dressing in drag doesn't make you any less trans... I posted a thread a while back where I mentioned Gender Expression IS NOT Gender Identity. You don't have to be masculine to feel you should've been born male. There are very femme bioguys out there: guys that wear girl pants, or girl shirts, gay guys that like to be hairless, guys that dress in drag, guys that don't like sports, guys that don't like getting dirty... what you do or like doesn't determine if your trans, how you feel does. Ever since I was a child, I knew I was born into the wrong body, something didn't match. But that didn't mean I had to be all manly, and macho, and masculine. Yeah I have masculine habits and such, but I don't force myself to(or don't feel I have to) be the "typical guy".

Yeah, it's rare for me too.  Especially since I lost weight and the skirt I was wearing no longer fits at all.  Sorry your friend treated you differently.  What did they do when they found out, if you don't mind my asking?

I think that's a very interesting concept--gender identity and gender expression being separate.  I never thought about it before but it certainly makes sense, for the reasons you've already stated.  I'm a somewhat feminine guy, but that isn't the reason I crossdress.  Without being explicit, I only do it inside the bedroom (with or without my partner).  I guess that's why I feel out of place somewhat.  It's not about gender expression for me; it's about having "fun."

I have too when i go out but other then that I have only one guy shirt. I'm attempting to get boxers. I'm just starting out so i'm stuck with female cloths.  Adrianna's been pawing through my female clothes so she can have em! The joys of our Trans relationship whoo

Well thing is she was just curious to see me dress that way, so I did it for her lol... it was fun, and she just kept complementing me and my body.

Lol I see, yeah everyone has their own thing.
;-p
Gender expression is NOT gender identity.

Defective Catastrophe.

Yeah. I sometimes wear Female underclothes. Willingly

I haven't worn a dress since I was 12, except in the occasional theatrical production.

I only wear female clothes when the occasion requires it. I had a PhD interview last week and my female housemates dragged me out shopping and stuffed me into a women's suite. Although I felt like I was in drag (which is the truth) I felt the occasion required it. I'm only out to a few people, not including my housemates, so I didn't say anything, just got on with it. I was uncomfortable the entire day of the interviews, but there was nothing else I felt I could other than grin and bare it for the day.

Define 'willingly'

For any formal-ish situation, I have to wear womens clothes(read:skirt/dress). Apparently 'tomboy' isn't appropriate even if you're wearing nice pants.

There's a few I could get out of, but I WANT to go to (seriously school dances are fun, I don't mind being in girls clothes for that)

Meh, on occasion it's fun... BUT NO HEELS.

Having to wear any kind of female clothes is my worst nightmare-no offence intended to anyone but i would never ever call it fun. Didn't go to my school dance cos they said i had to wear a dress and luckily been in jobs ever since where its not an issue. My one nasty thought while i was growing up was that if i died and mum chose the outfit i was buried/cremated in i could end up spending eternity in a dress

this topic has made me think....

i don't consider any of the clothing i have as "female" though i wear pants from the women's department. the more feminine clothing i have (from a job interview) makes me incredibly uncomfortable to wear, to the point i dread the possibility of having to wear it again. even some of my men's shirts that hug my curves make me sortof self conscious.

that said, i enjoy cute underwear, heels, nail polish, sometimes makeup. it bugs me that these things make me look more girly, but it's still fun to play around with sometimes. like hell you'd catch me out of the house with any of it these days though  ::)

I enjoy nailpolish, too. It may be more of a girly thing to do, but I don't care! heh I almost always have some funky bright color of nailpolish, so it's not exactly frilly and feminine. It's more funky and out of the box, and I feel it fits me!

Like some others here I only dress in drag when I'm out of clean guy clothes. I'm usually not happy about it. Since I still live with my parents and they don't quite see eye to eye on the trans issue they try to talk me into wearing something girly now and then. But I don't, so I'm not ever forced into it.
Speaking of clothes. I need to expand my wardrobe. I only have a few shirts for the winter and a couple jeans that I always forget to wash. :/

You know, that's one of the things I love most about transitioning.  In my girl days I, too, always dreaded dress-up occasions because I always had to make the choice of feeling out of place, or looking out of place.  (Dress in drag, or look like a butch lesbian trying to make a point?  Hmmm.  Decisions decisions.  ::) )  It was especially bad for occasions like weddings or funerals where you really don't want to look as if you are trying to draw attention to yourself.

But now I really enjoy dressing up.  I wish I had more opportunities to do so.  For the first time in my life I'm becoming something of a clothes horse!  :D

This is totally what I'm planning for Halloween this year.. Kind of way ahead of time, but I can't shake the image of dressing in a skimpy girls costume with a full beard out of my head.  ;D
