The exquisite sorrow of Antony and The Johnsons is set to once again transform the Opera House in a new concert focused on the environment. Antony speaks with Garrett Bithell.

When New York singer-songwriter Antony Hegarty released his transcendent 2005 album I Am A Bird Now with his band The Johnsons, the focus was unmistakably personal. There was the rapturous promise of transformation on 'For Today I Am A Boy'; an ode to love's bruises on 'Fistful of Love'; and 'Hope There's Someone' managed to encapsulate the loneliness we have all seen in the reflection of our bedroom mirror. But the eyes of his latest offering, The Crying Light, gaze firmly out, not in – the album is his heartfelt attempt to reconcile his relationship to the world around him.
