Protest against Kolkata Imam for solemnising 'forbidden marriage'

They insisted that the West Bengal government take stern action against the Imam.
At a press meet, the protesters said solemnising such marriages was against the Islamic law and sent out a wrong message. Maulana Barkati solemnised the marriage on March 9 with full knowledge of the facts but when the boy's family approached the Imam, he put the blame on the muzzaeen (the person who gives the prayer call), the protesters said.
