What a title. Anyways I have my meeting wednesday to get my letter for T. My therapist called me today and told me to go ahead and schedule my appointment next week to meet with the doctor of my choice who is going to perscribe my T. So I called and made my appointment for the 22nd in hopes my insurance is here by then. I just had to share this with someone. No one around me really seems to care. And there really isnt anyone I can tell that will understand how I feel right now.

So I am not going to an endo I am actually going to a doctor who is near my home town who has treated trans people before. When I called they knew exactly what I was talking about. What should I expect when I go there on that day? Any input will be greatly appreciated. I usually really hate doctors. They make me nervous.

Well I haven't gotten my T just yet, but from what my endo told me today is that any doctor can give you the shot, it's up to you to get the prescription. So I'd think it'd be like any other shot you get from a doctor.

When I had to get a quartazone shot it was the same deal.

My first appointment was just a general health overview  (weight, height, lots of questions) then she ordered the blood tests and wrote me a prescription. I then scheduled a second appointment for about 5 (? can't remember) days letter when my blood tests were back and brought the T. She then taught me how to inject it.

My first appointment was just a few questions and then the nurse came in and gave me the shot right there. She didn't wait to get the blood results back before going ahead. But did start me out on a low dose for the first one and and upped it with each shot as a precaution. I didn't get my prescription until after a few visits with the nurse while she made sure I was injecting it in the specified spot.
YMMV according to your doctor.

Oh and I might add, any doctor can give you T if you have the letter. At least that's how it is here. So just 'cash' in the letter is your best bet.

The first appointment (my only appointment so far) was a basic physical assessment and medical history, including family history.  My endo gave me some information on T to look over--nothing I didn't already know from my own research.  After that, she asked if I was ready to get my shot today and set me up with one of the nurses.  Because I regularly give injections, I was just supervised on technique and self-injected my first shot at the clinic.  She sent me to get blood work done right after that.

ETA:  I forgot to mention, the way my schedule is set up I have blood work done at 3 months and then again at 6 months.  I only go in face-to-face for the 6 month appointment though.  The dose I'm on now is low and should be increased pending the results in March.

Congrats! It's all very exciting. The way things are going with me seems like i'll be going to the endo BEFORE a therapist (my doc is trying to find a good therapist - being very thorough in making sure whoever she chooses can de everything i need them to do lol.) Seems she found the endo first - if i'm lucky maybe they'll do T without a letter....?

((Wishful Thinking))

Probably won't get T that visit though (which will hopefully be within the next week or two) but i can probably get all my questions answered and maybe get blood work done. Once again, i plan to tell my parents this Saturday (last weekend was a blow out because my dad got pneumonia) so they can go with me (i'm sure THEY will also have questions for the endo.)

Good luck!
