The son of Renata Antoinette Monet, a preoperative transgender whom Abilene police say brutally murdered the Rev. Karen Johnson and then killed herself, expressed extreme sorrow on behalf of his family regarding the tragedy.

Police say Monet, 61, known as Bobby Allan La'Loge until a year ago, stabbed Johnson numerous times and then hanged herself. Police say they will not release all the details of the homicide out of respect for the victim due to the horrific nature of the crime. The bodies were found Saturday in Monet's home in north Abilene, where Johnson, pastor of the Unity Church of Christianity, had gone to counsel Monet.
