I use BoA, mostly because I'm comfortable with their online banking features, and I have a credit card through them which I have a high balance on, so things are difficult to just shift over.

BoA has always impressed me before. I've got a fantastic interest rate on a credit card that I thankfully use as a rewards card instead of running a balance on, and it rewards me better than Discover would. It's literally impossible to change that kind of stuff over the phone anyway, since you have to mail physical copies to different entities. I don't think Citi has any physical offices here after all. I never expected to change anything over the phone, but at 130 am, I can't really go ask the bank the procedure :p

It was just BS back-patting security from the getgo. I guess I'd be bored at that early in the morning at work too.

Closing your original credit cards is a great way to reduce your credit score, as well. Spite is well and good, but nowadays you never know when a record of financial responsibility will help. You think if I tell a bank I'm looking for a loan for SRS they'll give me auto loan rates?

Update: Because of the extreme amount of money I charged last month between tuition, medical bills, books, etc, I stopped using my Visa last week so all of the charges would clear before the February statement, so I could pay it off and not have to worry about payments going towards charges that wouldn't pay off my previous balance. I started using my citibank card instead.

I paid off last month's statement yesterday and then today my account info became unavailable. It happens when BoA has maintenance. I tried to update my DL online and it rejected my card. I sighed, paid it with citi, and called BoA up. Account number invalid.

Yep... account completely locked until their investigations department contacts me over the phone, which will be Tuesday at the earliest because of the holiday weekend.

I couldn't have even handled this at a local bank branch last week, from the looks of it as it's a special investigation by Visa. I was too busy being a working student, anyway...

I wonder if, upon legally changing my name in the near future, they'll notice an incongruency between the gender marker and the name on the account and send helicopters to my house...

You know, the f--kedest thing is that even before I began transition, hormones, AA, or even trying to pass, I always got called ma'am on the phone, even when calling Visa years ago. I haven't asked somebody to call me "sir" in over 8 years.
