The Caldwell City Council voted 6-0 Monday to add "sexual orientation" to the list of traits protected from discrimination in the city's employment policy. But members of the Canyon Area Human Rights Task Force, which proposed the change, had asked the city to also protect gender identity from employment discrimination. Gender identity refers to transgendered or transsexual individuals.
