Antony and the Johnsons visit Perth

WHEN it was announced that Antony and the Johnsons were coming to Perth, it wasn't so much a gasp heard around Perth Concert Hall, more the absence of a gasp - a mass inhalation.

Those gathered at Perth Concert Hall to hear the Perth International Arts Festival's director Shelagh Magadza run down of the 2010 treats, couldn't quite believe their ears.

Needless to say expectation was running high as Antony Hegarty took to the stage with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra on the festival's opening night.

I saw Antony at coachella last year and I think he was working on the new arrangements he juat played in Perth. some of the arrangements were so beautiful! he only had a string quintet when I saw him so it sounded kind of thin and hollow, I'd love to see him with a full orchestra!

were the Johnsons really there? Sounds to me it was just Antony and the Orchestra, lol
