Could my brother be gay?

He had no girlfriends and he's 16 and half, and yesterday he was in the bathroom with some guy for 20 minutes (his friend) they were playing with his hair. Then he was blasting pop/dance music, really kind of gay music, but his friend also listen to this music (the one from the bathroom). And he even had his haircut (took his friend along). And his friend comes to our house almost every day, and my dad was like "it's gay" kind of attitude towards it.

But his friend is not gay, they are just best friends. And his friend had girlfriends... but whatever it just came off really gay to me.

He probably isn't gay, that's my gut feeling, but he doesn't talk about girls at all!

I do not want to ask him if he is though, just because it's not my place to ask him.

Eh, my brother's the same. I figure he might just be too young to really care about relationships yet. :P

I'm also inclined to say 'Eh', simply because I know from experience; an effeminate guy isn't necessarily gay.
I'm probably seen as potentially gay multiple times per day, though only a couple of people have ever relayed this back to me.
My own girlfriend thought I might have been when we first met...  ^-^

In any case, an apparent lack of interest in girls doesn't necessitate an interest in guys. Perhaps he's just not interested right now, or maybe he's trying to keep one secret.

but he isn't effeminate, it's just all of a sudden. it's like ever since Ke$ha came to the scene he became a different person. It's the media that controls him more than anything, since I notice he adjusts as a person with popular music. I was like, "Why are you playing Kesha over and over". My sister loves her too, it's like I can't even walk around this house without someone playing Kesha.

But whatever, and he isn't keeping a secret, since if I were to act like that it be like "I'm not being good at keeping a secret".

Is this sort of thing much of a big deal anymore?

I think the correct response is, "There's ANOTHER person with a dollar $ign in their name?!?!"

The answer is "Yes, he could be gay".. but ofcourse, it's not something to assume to know 'till he says something about it.
He could also be "trying out new roles" which is normal in teen years.
Or "Bi", or "Pansexual", or "Curious"...

Either way, it's not like it's really that important in the end. As long as he's happy and healthy, who cares who with?

Also, 16 years old and hasn't had a GF? That doesn't mean a thing!
My brother (who's currently engaged to this really sweet girl) was in his 30's when they became a couple. She's his first "girlfriend" too.
