Maria Clara Spinelli didn't think a transsexual actress could win an award — but she was wrong.

The Brazilian actress, who transitioned from male to female and who now plays a trans woman in the film Paulista, which recently screened at the Palm Springs International Film Festival, received a best actress award from the Paulinea Film Festival in Brazil for her portrayal of the character Suzana.
