So I found a link to an online therapist on another Transgender resource website and I'm really curious to know how legit this stuff is. Right now this is looking really good to me, as I live in a small city without any gender therapists so my only options are to wait on a list for general therapist and hope that it gets me somewhere, or commute to a bigger city for appointments, which I can't afford if I have any hope of paying for hormones and hair removal and saving for surgery. However I'm worried that this might be too good to be true.
The website is
gendertherapist.com/I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with this therapist before and, if so, whether he is legit. Upon talking to him he said his letters are accepted in Canada but I would like to know if anyone from Ontario has had any luck with his letter of recommendation.
I guess I'm just trying to be cautious because I don't want to put all that money down for appointments and for a letter of recommendation for hormone therapy and then find out that I can't find anyone who will actually accept it.
If this does turn out to be the real deal I might just go for it. It's really my best option at the moment and because I'm shy it might be more comfortable for me to talk over a chat interface instead of in person.
Anyhoo, what do you all think?
Here is a copy of his response to me:
QuoteDear Rachel

I would therefore be pleased to carry out an appropriate assessment of your gender issues and later write a letter of recommendation for hormones in no more than 12 weekly sessions, if required this is followed by a letter of recommendation for surgery in no more than 12 sessions. To use my sevrice you fill in the BIO form sugegst a time and dat thta is suiatbel for an appointemtn takign into consideration time zone changes athen pay the fee and commence the sessi My fees are if purchased in blocks of 4 sessions - $200 US ($50 US per session) plus 100 US for each letter of recommendation. If after reading you would like me to answer further questions or simply make an appointment please do not hesitate to come online or email me (etherapy@gmail.com).
The purpose of this service is to provide a friendly, beneficial and supportive online experience, and to assist you in living with gender dysphoria and where desired in transitioning and accessing hormone therapy and surgery in a way that suits your circumstances and current life circumstances. My sessions for all transgender clients provide support, acceptance, and up to date information on past and current research. I work with both male to female and female to male transgender and transsexual clients and also with clients who identify as cross dressers. Where appropriate I carry out an assessment of gender status and issue letters of recommendation to surgeons, endocrinologists and other mental professionals who require assessment in order to provide treatment. Letters of recommendation are acceptable in the USA, Thailand, and in many other countries worldwide by most gender reassignment surgeons, endocrinologists and other medical professionals. Online counseling is a relatively new approach but one that has gained acceptance and recognition by medical professionals and by organizations such as the American Counseling Association. Accessible from home, the office, or a local library, online counseling provides convenience and confidentiality and is particularly useful for those who live in isolated areas, whose work requires frequent travel, or who are concerned about the stigma that can be associated with face to face therapy. Where letters of recommendation are required for hormone therapy and surgery, a time limited and set number of sessions are planned to allow completion of a set assessment process and although flexible to individual needs, meet the requirements set by most endocrinologists and surgeons under guidance of the WPATH / Harry Benjamin Standards of Care. As mentioned the online counseling can take the form of time limited therapy, or up three months to complete the requirements leading to a letter of recommendation for hormones followed by up to maximum of a further three months, plus other normal requirements for surgery assessment. Therapy is tailored to the individual and their specific needs and unique circumstances of each client.
ONLINE SESSIONS

For more information please contact me online or at etherapy@gmail.com.
LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION
Although I follow WPATH Standards of Care guidelines in due consideration of recent research, all counseling programs and requirements are to individual needs. My letters are accepted by surgeons in the US when normally two are required, I do have a colleague in the US who would be happy to endorse my letter and provide the second one following some brief and inexpensive sessions.. In Thailand where only one letter is required my letters are accepted by all surgeons including Dr Suporn, Dr Preecha, Dr Saran, Dr Chettawut, Yahnee Hospital and others. Further my letter is accepted by 99% of endocrinologists in the US. The second SRS letter requirement in the US is provided and written by a fully qualified licensed US gender counselor and accompanies my letter and used for US and Canadian doctors such as Dr Marcie Bowers and others who require the two letters, this excludes top surgery which normally requires only one letter.

For more information please contact our office. Due to this being an online relationship and little if any face to face contact is made throughout the therapy/counseling as I personally oversee both the counseling and financial matters. I would ask that agreed installment fees are made promptly on time or I be informed if the client is unable to make a professional fee payment so that an alternative plan can be agreed. This will avoid any unnecessary cross over that could arise between the counseling relationship and that of the 'professional fee' aspect, so as to avoid any discomfort on both sides. - If you would prefer a reminder to be sent as a payment becomes due this could be arranged upon request.
