Today I caught up with an ex-girlfriend with whom I have remained close friends, as we had previously planned.  I had decided to raise the subject of gender with her tentatively as she already was aware I am bisexual, and took that ok.

We had a pleasant wander through the local art gallery, and then went for a coffee. After we had caught up with family, work and friends, I just came out with "I have thought about it a lot, and am pretty sure I am not the only member of my family who is transsexual."( she knows a close relative is FtM.)

We had a long conversation about growing up, relationships and emotional reactions etc, and she was really accepting of the news.  It helped that her old chiropractor was trans, so she had some idea what to expect, but I am thrilled she was so supportive.

I feel like I have crossed a threshold now, and the only way forward is "full steam ahead" for HMAS  Happiness.

Good going!
It gets easier to come out each time.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.
