This past weekend was super fantastic! I had plans to go to a moe. show in Chicago and decided to take advantage of the situation. moe. is one of my favorite bands at the moment and has been for about the last, oh I dunno... five years or so. I've seen them like six times and know the venue and crowd pretty well. I figured it would be a well known location where I would be comfortable and safe and that it would be relatively dark. I also knew there would be plenty of open minded hippies and that I could probably get away with blurring the gender lines a little more than usual. Yay for me!!

So I went all out for the show... Although I didn't go all super dressed up, I still wore the cutest outfit and some lite make-up! I had on my VS Pink flare bottom jeans, a plain white babydoll t, a purple hoodie from Old Navy (thanks Nicky!!) and a matching purple heart necklace. I'll keep it g rated and only off handledly say that my unmentionables where *very* sexy. Re-ow!! My real hair is short, so I did it up all cute and spiky. I applied some lite mascara, shimmery eye shadow and, of course, my ultra shinny lip gloss. I felt so perfectly feminine. It was so much fun!!

Seriously, I got called a lady like three times!! :D I parked and walked to the Starbucks across the street. Of course, it was packed and super lit-up so I was all totally self-conscious. As I was ordering, some dumb drunk guy made a scene and security came and it was pretty dramatic, but it totally turned any attention away from me, which was quite a relief as I felt like everyone had been staring at me!! I got my latte and left for the show. At the door, they made me get in the ladies line for the 'frisk'. It was all a crazy fiasco and I tried to explain, but before I could stammer out two words I was being woman-handled by security and ushered through the door... Good thing they didn't find my stash!! :P I was also called ma'am by the bar tender (just soda, I don't drink much) and also called a girl by the guy dancing next to me. It was quite the adventure!! I had a blast all evening and danced my heart away, loving every minute of the music, the feeling of being out, the ambiance... just everything!! I really needed a night like that and I'm glad I had one. :D

I guess the lesson learned is that I seem to be much, much more passable with lite make-up and a cute outfit then caked on beard concealer, a fake looking wig and a hoochie style dress. Hmmm... I have *got* to get ride of this five o'clock shadow!! I'm convinced I'd be totally passable without it!

What a fun experience!

One place I've always felt comfortable is at a large gay club that has a drag show.  The staff knows me, and so do most of the performers.  Though I'm not gay, my wife and I are welcomed there and we spend a lot of time on the dance floor.

When I walk in, I'm 68.  By the time I walk out, I'm much younger!

Sounds awesome, hippies are pretty easy most of the time.

I wish I could be picky, then I would not have been stuck at Killswitch Engage the other night.  Oh well, they can't all be brilliant.

ya silversun pickups opened at that muse show and they were kind of a let down.  i like the band but you could see the venue was just a little too big for them...

I saw Muse when they were touring with U2 back in October.  That was a pretty good show compared to most.  Wish they were coming back to Florida sometime soon because I certainly wouldn't mind going again.

There's been a lack of good bands on my radar down here, so I relish the opportunity to get out and see them when they are.

And here I didn't even know that KSE was without their lead singer (relapse?  Holed up with five Cuban Hookers and a case of rum?  Sick?  who knows - and like we get the straight story anyway...) but they had some girl sing all the lead parts.  Still, it was eh.  At least they didn't suck, which is always good.

I did Muse years and year ago now, gee, like five at least (back when they still played 2K nightclubs) and I kinda remember them being, well, at least not suck.  I know my kids a big fan.  And I know people going down to the desert to see them.  (Alas, Faith No More is doing 3 nights in SF to warm up for Coachillia, so I'm kinda stuck here again this year).  Any more I can only remember people who were just flat out awesome (Rev. Al Green) and the people who really, really sucked (Asia, I'm looking at you) and very little in-between.

But I've got some huge deal happening on Memorial Day up in the foothills of Angel's Camp, so perhaps I'll see some of you there.  I've already promised Beth the backstage passes if she shows, but hey, we can still have a good time.

No, but I'm going down to unload Further trucks and set the stuff back up in the Bob and Phill's studios, so I'm guessing I'll find out then if its going to be that, or something else.
