Important Information for the LGBT Community on Completing the 2010 Census Form

How does the 2010 Census count lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) people?

The 2010 Census does not ask about sexual orientation or gender identity. LGBT people living with a spouse or partner can identify their relationship by checking either the "husband or wife" or "unmarried partner" box.

...

What about transgender individuals?

The 2010 Census asks a question about each person's sex. Transgender respondents should select the sex with which they identify. Mark only one box.

I don't count, I have never received a census form. So why do I have to pay taxes and fight for correct gender markers?

ok, it's obvious some people don't watch tv or check out transsexual sites that aren't porn related--yes they exist. i filled it out yesterday and marked female becuase that is what i am. the site i went to said to fill out the census sex part that closely matched your present gender presentation. i also added a box and put transsexual beside it, they aren't legally allowed to share it with any one for any reason for at least like 75 years. the reason that the government doesn't provide money and funding for the LGBTQIA community is because THEY THINK WE DON'T EXIST!! the U.S. Gov. is not going to support funding to people they think are a figment of their imagination. i'm so sick and tired of people think that i'm a figment of their imagination and it's time we let the government know in EVERY small way we can to remid them we have been around for years and we aren't going anywhere!! just my opinion  ;D
