I've came out to all my family. I've been seeing the counselor for some months now and i feel like im ready to start hormones. I am currently still in school, but i am currently working on becoming homeschooled. So that's not problem. My counselor doesn't specialize in GID, but works with me. Can i get a letter from her? Or do i have to have on from a GID specialist? She helps me with my problems and we talk alot of me being trans, so could she just write a referral saying its alright for me to take hormones?

Depends on the therapist, as to what they are licensed to do.  The best thing is to just ask.

And seeing you are talking about home schooling, I assume that you are under the age of consent, so you might need the parental units ok.

Then ask your therapist for a letter and see what they say.  Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Then comes the task of finding a Endo to prescribe them. :-\

I will second Janets advise.
Nothing ventured nothing gained.
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you can win a hundred battles without a single loss.
If you only know yourself, but not your opponent, you may win or may lose.
If you know neither yourself nor your enemy, you will always endanger yourself.

I got both my surgery letters from psychologists who do not specialize in gender issues, so it can be done.  Ask your therapist to help you take the next step.  And my family physician is prescribing my HRT and monitoring the results.  It helps to see specialists, but it isn't required.

Good luck to you on your journey. :icon_flower:
