For those who might not have been in the know, the only visible clue that something was amiss at Candis Cayne's Monday night show, was that DJ Marco McDermott was missing from the DJ booth where he usually sits, instead replaced by DJ Manny Patel. Neither Cayne's face nor her attitude betrayed that something else might have going on behind the scenes. Instead, she performed with the same enthusiasm and gusto she shows each week, using humorous interludes to riff on her casual use of the term "->-bleeped-<-," speculate about lesbian experimentation, interview nervous audience members, and single out Olympian figure skater Johnny Weir in the crowd, as she performed for an excitable crowd at The Abbey.

But friends and Facebook followers of Cayne were aware that over the weekend, America's most recognizable transgender entertainer had split from her partner of eight years, as announced by McDermott when he took to the couple's Facebook page with the update: "Candis and Marco are calling it quits after 8 years. Thanks LA."
"Be yourself; everyone else is already taken." Oscar Wilde
