I read a bunch of the posts on this year-old blog as well as the more recent discussion on Queerty, and watched the trailer. It's clear to me that some trans people find this very offensive, but also that the writer/director/editor, Israel Luna, did not mean this as a negative portrayal of trans people, or as a portrayal that was meant to be taken at all seriously. Sure, it reinforces some trans stereotypes - defining trans people as female and ignoring FtMs and other gender-variant folks, portraying trans women as shallow and drag-queeny - but it's meant as trashy camp, and should be taken as such. To say that it trivializes violence against trans people misses the point; it's the nature of camp and B-movies to be outrageously trivial.
Yeah, lots of drama queening over this. -shrug-
