I had grafts done in February 2008. Worked fine and covered most of the MPB but I need more but can't afford.
WARNING - POINT TO BE AWARE OF!
To get grafts the surgeon will try to take a wide slice of scalp from back of head - thats Ok s the hairs there never die - BUT! stitching up that gash pulls the front scalp back so the forehead gets tallers needing more transplants.
I didn't know that or I'd have gone for the punch grafting or maybe ask the surgeon to take lots of little slices to minimise the front scalp pullback.
On the whole I'm very glad I got the transplants.

forgot to add.
the grafts are solid enough to allow hair to be washed the next day to get rid of the blood and mess...never felt so dirty...and after about 10 days the hairs started falling out and continued for several weeks until all had fallen but by then the first of the new hairs from the transplanted follicles were coming through and after about 3 months I had a nice covering.
If I ever get the money I'd like to go for a scalp advancement to shorten the forehead and some more transplants to cover the MPB.
I know I'm on estrogen for life but I do think the MPB is continuing and only transplanting lifelong follicles from back will cure it.
