I got my tri top from underworks last week and it's awesome. So today I wore it for about six hours today cause of work. And the straps cut into my shoulder. I'm really scrawny, and wear it cuts into on my left shoulder, it's like cutting into a nerve or something. My question is has anybody tweaked their binder so they could have a little padding for the shoulder? Thanks

I've always bound, starting back when I would use evil Ace Bandages as a kid, with my binding item worn over a cheap plain white T-shirt. It keeps tight things from biting into the skin and leaving cuts/scrapes or showing ugly lines under your shirt.

I'm not sure that would be enough padding for you, but you could try it. It keeps your binders clean too. If you don't like a T-shirt, some guys use tank tops, but the positioning could be trickier if your shoulder is the issue.

I cut a bit of my tri top, the under arm, so it wouldn't cut into my skin as much. I think it has helped with the shoulders too. It doesn't look too hot but the binder has held up wonderfully and the impact on compression was negligible.

I forgot all about this post, I just got a new binder in the mail today, and it didn't cut too much into my shoulder like the first one did, so I'm thinking, my body has gotten used to the tightness. But me and my binders are like bffs now lol.

I'm pretty scrawny too. When I started binding 3 years ago I started out with the xs Tri Top and it hurt like hell. At first it was killer but after about a month I got used to it. Duct tape still hurts when I rarely use it but its not as cruel as the tri top. I use a small now, cause I'm not as scrawny as I used to be. Put neosporin on the cuts when you take it off, cause that stuff really does minimize scarring even on older scars and you don't want those scars after your surgery. If you don't wash it for like a week, it'll get more comfortable to wear. Depending on if you're as anal about how flat your chest is as I am, it'll eventually get too stretchy. But that's fixable...I started putting my binder in the freezer when I take it off (which is rarely) and that seems to have helped it keep its binding ability pretty well.
