Engen signs Missoula's equality measure

Mayor John Engen put his pen Thursday to the equality ordinance, and he shared his perspective on the long meeting he ran and the historic measure he signed.

"I do think it's a great thing for Missoula, and here's why," Engen said of the law. "We have to consider one another as human beings."

He said people apply all kinds of labels and filters to each other, and much of that is natural. But he said the ordinance really is about protecting the basics, and for all kinds of people.
