I've been trying to reaffirm who I am, because let's face it, transitioning can be all consuming to life. I want to try to step away from the internet and do things offline that aren't transition related. Any ideas? I like music, trains and being outside. I tried to pick up writing again, cause I have six creations in the work, but no such luck. So help please?

well, here are some of the things I do in my spare time that you may or may not be interested in trying:

gardening
cooking
learning Japanese
watching anime
reading manga
cycling
walking
working on conlangs
building a media center PC
writing (but, you already tried that one so...)
finding ways of traveling without taking the interstate (the scenic route is fun)
testing out various fountain pens
finding the best coffee place locally

I am sure if you try all of my hobbies you will find something that you enjoy.
15 years on Susans, where has all the time gone?

If you like music maybe learn to play something? guitars come cheap and in my opinion are easy enough to learn the basics. trains... cant really advise anything there. outdoors covers tons of stuff. As soon as the weather gets better im gonna get cycling again. I know the feeling with a writers block too, something i was working on came to a halt a long time ago.

I'd suggest playing video games like I do but it's not a healthy option lol.
When I was stuck for a hobby I took up keyboard and drums. Its a fantastic feeling when you learn a new song.

I've started playing sims 2, but that's causing some problems with the gf  :-\ but I've started working on one of my stories, hoping something sparks and I just go. Work doesn't help the creative side.

Yeah I like writing but I'm finding it really hard to come up with any solid ideas as everything is so stressful with college and once I actually get free time Im too tired to focus on anything.
Howcome the sims 2 is causing problems?

Cause I get so focused in it. Like today, I spent two hours building and designing a house. LoL...it can get a bit out of hand.

My boyfriend was the same. He used to hate how much I played it. He thought it was a pointless game. I used to spend a good solid 10 hours making whole cities when I first got it. We've managed to solve the issues now though. I just play it when he's asleep or too busy with one of his games  :P

Hmz, let's see.. Now that the weather's improving I'll throw in the following scenario;
Go to a bridge over a railroad, sit your butt down, put on your mp3 player/ipod (w/e) and bring out the notebook.

Of course cliffs etc work as well, as long as you got the tracks somewhere in view.

Worked for my writer blocks anywho.

As for the Sims2... If the thought of uninstalling it makes you whimper, then it's definitely time to uninstall it. :P

The thought of uninstalling any game makes me recoil in terror lol :P
But yeah might be an idea to stop for a bit and go for a walk for some writing inspiration

Maybe take a walk, its not really a hobby but its something to do and might give you inspiration for your writing. I used to love walking but I ended up moving right next door to hell and its too hot!

BTW, love the Sims, have you tried Sims 3 yet?

Disc Golf is serious business.

Also, cycling.

But mostly, disc golf.
