Should Maine public schools have policies to transgender students?

The Maine Human Rights Commission worked on but has not yet issued recommendations on how public schools accommodate transgender students. What should be the policy? Should boys who identify as girls be able to use the girls bathroom and locker room and participate on girls sports teams? Should schools work out their own plans, perhaps letting such students use a teachers bathroom, or allow the student to use a bathroom and locker room by himself or herself? Or should anatomy rule? Will such policies wreak havoc on privacy and be abused? Or are there so few transgender students that a reasonable fix is possible?

I'd like to say, whoever Torin10 is in the comments section, she has my unending respect!

I actually find myself with a great deal of respect for even the people who disagreed with Torin10, but who recognized her in writing as a human being.  This community has a chance for doing something the right way that will let all but the small proportion of  :eusa_wall: live with some basic dignity.
