I find it amazing that shows such as Law and Order are exposing the Trans gender related issues out in the public.

The episode that I seen was a MTF teenager who's father did not accept his daughter for who she was and represent, he continued calling his daughter his son. He was almost beaten to death and the process goes on.

For more information can go to http://www.afterellen.com/blog/dorothysnarker/law-and-order-svu-tackles-trans-issues-with-a-familiar-face

I was sitting on the couch watching the entire episode and often did some observation to see what my fathers reaction was, since I wanted him to get an idea of who I truly am.

I was so disappointed at the lack of interest that my father exhibited the entire time the show was on. He would observe the show for about a min or two and then walk off, getting mail and etc.

He made a few smart remarks such as "What does the prison system do to Transgenders people?" It may have been an innocent question but I viewed it differently by the tone of his voice. He also said something else but I can't remember the full quote. Maybe I'm overreacting but It was all disrespectful as a FTM.

I've been wanting to tell my father about my FTM but something keeps me from pursuing... maybe is that my father is going to look at me crazy? or laugh at my face and then call me crazy? Maybe it's his immaturity that might take over him? Or maybe because I don't trust him?

Now I'm going to get emotional over this ->-bleeped-<- but I've been living my life in such anguish. I don't have a sex life because I feel uncomfortable being with another man because I'm straight. The only way that I can get some sexual gratification is by self pleasing myself, thats all. No straight woman would want to date me because of my body.

When the guidance counselor was testifying and made her confession of being MTF really touched me..

The L&O SVU episode called Identity which was based on the David Reimer case blows my mind every time I see it.   Reiley McClendon who played both the male and female twin was incredible.

FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

I have to say that SVU episode was probably one of my favourite ever episodes of that show. And the character of Hailey was so cute. It's good to see Trans issues being talked about and portrayed in a 'hey, this is okay' sort of light. :) It was a really cool episode, I think.

Also, sorry to hear about your father's lack of interest and poor comments. :( But at least a lack of interest is better than a negative reaction, right? Think positive.

I have seen it a couple and always have liked it.  Yes It could have been done better, but it was done well.

I am sorry that your Dad was not more open.  But the parents are some of the hardest to come out to.

I wouldn't be disappointed about your Dad not paying attention. If you've not come out then he probably has no idea.

As for the episode, I might download it at some point. Sounds interesting :)
