I get them bad on my face and sometimes on my chest, continually amazing my electrologist when she pulls a 1.5+ inch hair from beneath my skin...

I've spent way too much on Tend Skin, it doesn't work 100% to prevent them but it does work better than anything else I've tried. It's wicked expensive though, so I wouldn't recommend buying it. You can make your own version with almost identical active ingredients pretty easily and way cheaper, her recipe seems to work well for me:
Quote3 TBS. Witch hazel and 4 crushed tabs of uncoated aspirin
(COMBINE)
1/3 cup 70% Rubbing alcohol and 9 crushed tabs of uncoated aspirin
(COMBINE)
Combine the mixtures.
The biggest downside is probably that it smells completely horrible, but that fades not too long after you apply it. Some of the other DIY tendskin recipes use thicker bases (jojoba oil, honey, etc) with generally the same crushed aspirin proportions or a little stronger. I've used the jojoba base and a jojoba/honey mixture but couldn't stand either of those, but if you have really dry skin the alcohol & witch hazel (or actual tend skin)
can cause problems drying you out even more.
