Ok, so I wasn't sure where I should put this, but I guess its fashion.

A little background first, because i'm cool like that  8) I officially have my first BF as a girl!  ;D really exciting! Well, we've been dating for a bit now, and he's in college, he knows i'm a t-girl and is fine with it. He asked me to a formal dinner/dance at his college *its something his fraternity or w/e it's called does every year* Well key word, formal, I'm not too far along in transition, getting close to starting my forth month on hormones.

I've never worn a dress, i've always kept my look blendy, nothing flashy or extremely eye catching and what not. Soooo, first question to the more experienced t-girls *t-boys with fashion tips, or anyone for that matter feel free to answer lol* I am aware there are dresses that isn't like cleavagy showing, considering I have what my friend calls AA's, I can't really wear anything like that. Are there that many in the more adult age ranges? that are still cute looking, and formalish? I figured it would be more likely in the younger ages since they too don't have anything to show :P if so, where to shop? is ross good for that? Or should I go some where else?

Next question, color, so far a lot of people have said baby blue, pink, manily pastel colors because i'm pretty pale skinned, a lighter brown/dirty blonde *i'm going to have blonde highlights tuesday so it will change* and blue eyes. I'm going to change my picture, i'm sure, maybe you can see my face more up close in it and get a better idea of my skin ton and what not.

   *****WARNING MATURE CONTENT****

Lol sorry I kind of wanted to give warning, I know some people are sensitive, and I won't be too graphical or anything, dont' want to offend anyone. I'll keep it as discrete as I can :P

Last question...  the sensitive one :P. Ok obviously a dress and err.. male anatomy don't go hand in hand, I'm sure we all know about random... excitements, just from heck who knows wind or something. luckly thats not too bad now being on hormones, noticed a difference. This is where it gets a tad personal. I'm the type that is lucky when hmm... not excited, I don't really have to tuck, and because of hormones I'm not worried about randomness, but you never know. So my question, should I just be extra careful and do some kind of actual tucking, i'm horrible at doing it, tried tape and what not. or is it possible to just idk, wear two layers of tight undies?

I'm just kind of worried I'd be dancing with my bf, and bam! a bulgy dress isn't prolly cute on a girl :P

anyways any help will be much appreciated! thanks.

There are plenty of cute dresses that don't show cleavage.  You'll have to try them on, though, to see how they fit your particular body.

You may be able to find something in Ross.  A lot depends on your wallet and your shopping abilities.  If you can afford it, look in a regular department store - Macy's, Belk's, Dillard's, even Nordstrom if you can afford it - depending on what's available.  (Nordstrom's Rack can have some real finds at good prices.)  Even if you don't buy something, you can get a better idea of what looks good on you and the styles that are available.

If you can get someone to help you "do your colors" it will help you.  Or have someone with a good eye go shopping with you.  A lot depends on your skin tone, your hair color, your eye color, etc.  What colors look good on you now?  (Color is not gender-specific.)

In response to your last question: wear a panty girdle or somethig similar. :)

If it's a formal, you can't go wrong wearing black.

It's better to keep it looser below the waist, more of something with a flair, then tight - should help that problem, as would a good tight foundation garment.
FIGHT APATHY!, or don't...

Ok thanks!

Well as far as colors kate, my friends say light colors, I just changed my pictures to the one with the lighter colors to give an idea.

My wallet will be good before then heh. I try and keep money saved for w/e reasons, but i'm not looking for a ridiculously expensive dress, just a decent price, a bit high is fine. I'll have to get shoes too, and some kind of small purse :P

Tekla, yes thats what I was thinking, a more flowy dress not a tight because of that issue, I was thinking like if it was a slow, embracing kind of song you know? even if its flowy, still will get tight up close. As far as black, I really want to avoid black because I have a lot of black as it is, and he wants more color than black if its possible, because he usually sees me in black. I have a lot of black because well, my parents wont' let me over if I wear light colors and such, well they dont' let me over if I have make up or anything really lol, well my dad atleast, my mom is just now dealing and is like, *sigh* ok w/e just use your normal voice, so i'm like fine, but not in public lol.

Anyways, if I have to i'll go with black I suppose, I mean I want to look good for him you know? and he rather me not wear black, and it doesn't bother me not to, because I am a paler tone black looks really black on me :P

I dunno.  I used to be able to wear black.  Now if I wear black near my face people start calling the morgue truck to come get me.  But the idea of a fuller skirt to the dress is good, especially for us gals who have slimmer hips. ::)  You want the shaping of the dress to enhance your figure, not point out its flaws.

Kaide, darling, spring is here. Let's leave black to winter time. I think you need something to go with those pretty flowers beside you in that picture ;)

Just grab a girlfriend or two with more dress buying experience and go shopping. Personally, I never make the pricey places. I seem to do just as well with the off-price places, but then I love to shop for bargains.

As far as your anatomy is concerned, dresses are the easiest when it comes to that. You just need something that will hold things down so you have a smooth front. I usually use a snug control pantie that keeps thing right where I need them. And you can "tuck", of course. The Susan's Wiki has a great tutorial on this: http://susans.org/wiki/Tucking

As for the adult part. When I was living as female, I always made a point of positioning it upwards. If something does happen, it's a lot easier to deal with if you don't have to fiddle wth your clothes to allow it to go where it wants to.

I could never tuck either, mainly because I'm rather small. But some padding not only hides any shapes, it actually looks pretty feminine. Though, of course, you need to think carefully. You don't want the padding to slip and the amount of movement around your hips is quite a bit more than you might imagine.

Thanks alot, I went out with my bf, his room mate, and their friend whitney. She helped me, and we found something :) its really cute. I'll post a pic in this forum and show you some time. Right now its just the dress itself, but i'll post one with me in it at some point i'm sure :P

You may try juniors' tees in Walmart. Although I am a dad, I like juniors' or even little girls' tees and sometimes skirts.

If you have rather flat chest, I would recommend v-neck tees. In the below, I am not wearing a bra, but people usually see me as a woman with boobs.

Cool look, Barbie. That reminds me of one time writing a blog post when I went through a couple of fashion magazines and realized how many ways you can look feminine (while flat chested) without wearing a bra. Since most fashion models are pretty flat, stylists use a lot of tricks like jewelry, blazers, designs, hairstyles and so on. Padding is by no means a necessity.
