Sendra

Hello all, I'm a 22 year old MtF individual from Southern California!

I come with a few questions, and I figure here is as good a place as any to ask them. I was raised by a single mother with multiple brothers, and my mom has taken it upon herself to kick me out for 'my own good.' she claims it has nothing do with my current problems, and desire to fix it (Namely through transition.) but the decision did come soon after I told her about it.

I'm currently working for the census, but when that job ends I will be effectively homeless in San Diego. By the time the job ends I plan on moving to San Francisco, and hope to have between 2k and 3k dollars saved up.

My question is, what resources are available in San Francisco? I'd like to start hormone replacement therapy as soon as possible, and finding a job asap seems to be key. Are there any resources for transgendered individuals seeking health care? What about help finding non discriminatory housing and employment?

Hi Sendra, :icon_wave:

Welcome to our little family. Over 4600 strong. That would be one heck of a family reunion.

Feel free to post your successes/failures, Hopes/dreams.  Ask questions and seek answers. Give and receive advice.

But remember we are family here, your family now. And it is always nice to have another sister. :icon_hug:

And be sure to check out these links ( MUST READS )

I am not from San Fransisco, but several are and they might have some help for you.

Hugs and Love,
Janet

Hello, Sendra!  Welcome to the site!

I'm afraid I can't answer your questions either, but I'm sure somebody who can will be along soon to help.  :)

When you get to SF, look into Dimensions Clinic: http://www.dimensionsclinic.org/home.html

Among other things, they're one of the extremely few clinics that do trans health care (at least hormones, anyway) based on informed consent if you want to do it that way instead of via a therapist.
