Census skirts the 'third sex' count again

In the comprehensive House Listing and Housing Census form spread over 35 columns, the gender option is confined to the usual male/female.
The long haul for the third gender or eunuchs will get accentuated by the fact that the current census exercise will lead to issuing of Unique Identity Cards for the first time in the country.

In spite of repeated demands by the community that its members be listed in the 'others' category in the Census, they have been put under the male category.
With the process of data collection set to begin on May 1, there is no time for rectification. The community naturally is upset at being denied its own status this time too.
