TS-Si publishes no one without editorial review, not even [Managing Editor] Sharon [Gaughan] or I.

How does one appropriately point out hate speech towards transgender identified people in general, and me in particular, on a website of folk who state that their mission is one "...dedicated to the acceptance, medical treatment, & legal protection of individuals in the process of correcting the misalignment of their anatomical sex, & supporting their transition into society"? Thumbnail link: TS-Si's 'Autumn Sandeen (did not) Die For Your Sins', by Joesphine SodomeseThis is one of those times where I feel it necessary to point out hate speech, knowing full well that the hate is coming from a website with whose owners I share many societal and legislative goals -- a website and organization named TS-Si.

I looked at the TS-Si site and all but still don't know what TS-Si means, particularly the Si. Does anyone?

At a couple different points on the web site they state that it is:
.
TS-Si (Transsexual Symposium)
.
Odd abbreviation usage, but *shrug*whatever floats their boat I guess.

See their FAQ's:

"Si" stands for "Symposium." They are a group that opposes the inclusion of transsexual people (using the terminology, "HBS") under the transgender or the LGBT umbrellas, and advocates for a binary understanding of gender. This stance is in clear opposition to the stance of the administrator of this site, and promoting it on this site would likely violate the terms of service.

I have to be careful here. I'm going to criticize Sandeen. Understand this criticism has nothing to do with her gender, gender presentation, or self-identification.

Autum Sandeen is pretty much at the extreme other end of the spectrum from the TS-Si folks. While I don't support their views in general, on one point I think I agree with them: I think that she was itching for a fight, and I'm not the slightest bit surprised she found it. I don't feel a great deal of pity for her simply because I'm pretty sure she knew what she was getting into, both with the cops and the reaction from the HBS wing. That's not to blame her: however inflammatory she can be, she should of course be treated with basic human respect. And that's not to excuse the behavior of the police, nor TS-Si's inflammatory article.

I just don't think any of it is terribly surprising, and I expect Sandeen was probably prepared for it better than the majority of people (trans or not) who try generally to stay out of trouble, because she pretty much knew she was going to provoke some cops into arresting her that day. She seems to me to be the brand of activist who wishes she had been around for the big civil rights fights of the '60's, the liberal version, more or less, of men who dream of one good war they can fight in and thus gain glory.

[p.s. -- Just to be clear, TS-Si is a bunch of dirty old egg-sucking dogs. Or something like that. My point is, to Autumn - and really any people that intentionally put themselves forth as public figures -- you've really got to grow a thicker skin. There are jerks on the Internet. Get over it. Calling them all out is kind of like picking up all the garbage in Times Square. It's a dirty, pointless, and utterly futile job.]

Kay beat me to it, but here is one page it appears:

http://www.ts-si.org/faqs/2017-what-is-the-ts-si-website

It's a bit of a reach.

Actually, if you check that page, you will notice a notable question: "Why 'HBS/TS' instead of TG?"  This tells me two things.

1) The HBS/TS suggests the site is fond of making TS into a disorder, with an emphasis on medical solutions.  Actually, the "TS-Si is dedicated to the acceptance, medical treatment, and legal protection of individuals correcting the misalignment of their brains and their anatomical sex, while supporting their transition into society" in the right-hand corner seems to reinforce this philosophy.

2) The "instead of TG" shows the site is concerned with "TS"s rather than TGs in general.  It establishes that the site may be willing to throw non-"TS" TGs under the bus.  I quote "TS" given they may not include non-op TSs.

On first blush, of the article, it seems that the article of interest has been legitimately ripped apart.  [EDIT]: But as Alyssa mentions, the Internet is filled with criticism like this...

thanks for replies.

I think Autumn Saundeen knew exactly what would happen as in getting arrested and she stated what happened to her showing that police need education and a policy when it comes to dealing with people in transition.

but that is only an opinion like all the rest.
