Hi,
Is anyone going to Be All this year? They bill themselves as "one of the foremost transgendered conventions in the United States".

I'm thinking of going for maybe Friday and Saturday night. I'm not sure though... Can anyone who's gone in the past shed some light on this event?

Be-All is a very well run event with plenty of quality seminars. For the CD, it's a chance to get out, dress and socialize. For the TG, again it's great for hanging out, living in your other gender role and a chance to take in some interesting seminars. For those who are TS, many doctors and surgeons show up who also do consultations by appointment for free.

Back in 2002, I went to my first Be-All just for the day. This was long before I was living full time. I rented a room, and had a place to change. Although I didn't know anyone, I did find a lot of helpful people. At this point in my life, I was not on hormones, but knew that I was TG and questioning whether I was TS.

After attending some of the seminars, I was able to schedule a consult with one of the plastic surgeons. I also got a chance to meet the doctor who only months later would be prescribing me hormones.

Again, I think that Be-All is really a good event. Go onto their website, and check out all of the activities.

Good luck!

Hiya!

I attended Be_All in 2008, and found it to be a good conference.  That was around the start of my transition, and I consulted with 4 FFS surgeons and 1 SRS surgeon in the course of 2 days.  That's worth the price of admission on it's own.  I also found the seminars good.

I'm headed back in 2010.. in less then two weeks if anyone else here on Susan's is going and wants to meet up!  I have a follow-up appt with my FFS surgeon (at my request, since I want to give him feedback on my results and ask a few questions) , several of the seminars penned in, and plans to see several old midwest friends... can't wait!!!!

I won't be going to the Dr Z party, I find it a bit .. well, I'll just say not my taste.  I tend not to do the big organized events they have on schedule either... I find just seeing friends, and the seminars a full day, and not a big fan of large staged events anyway. (like the ballroom meals etc).   I basically only register for the workshops, for $100, and have all the access to the conference that I want!

Take Care,
Melan

Hi Julie and Melan,
I'm signed up for Saturday all day and the banquette!! :D I'll be there early in the a.m. and throughout the day and evening... There's quite a few seminars I'm hoping to attend and it would also be nice to meet with some of the presenters.

If either of you want to meet up, send me a pm and we can set up a time!
Toodles,
~Jasmine~

Interesting to see how these threads get resurrected! Although I was not planning on attending, I might be "manning" (lol) a booth for a local healthcare provider who asked for volunteers.

I will be there for one day providing my schedule remains free.
