Hello, I have a strange (I think) question.

I was reading K8's latest entry and it brought up a question that I have had for a while. Actually, it is more a series of questions and statement or two. You see, I have never had a bruise. I simply don't bruise. It's not like I have never done anything that would cause a bruise, I have been in situations that should have resulted in serious contusions, but nothing. For instance, I was once attacked by a "Golden Gloves Boxer" dude who was significantly bigger than me. He punched me, bare-fisted in the face 3 times, the last time hard enough to break my glasses on my face. Afterwards, no bruise, no black eyes, no redness, nothing. A number of people around afterward said that I should have been knocked out by at least one of those punches. Others were surprised that there wasn't a mark on my face. (Of course, I wasn't even hurting, didn't think he hit me that hard.)

So, I guess one of my questions would be, do any of you have any similar experience? I have never known or met anyone who has never had a bruise. Would anyone have an idea why I don't bruise? And, do you think that going through HRT would change (what ever it is the prevents the bruising) this? Maybe the thinning of the skin, change in texture, the changes in the subcutaneous fat, or something would allow me to bruise. Maybe undergoing the trauma of SRS surgery would be enough to cause some bruising?

Or, maybe everyone before in my life is right and I'm just some kind of weird alien. :)

Thoughts?

after srs bruising WILL happen, just a matter of how much.

besides the genitals and mons pubis, the inner thighs are prone to bruising due to pooling of blood and the use of lithotomy position in surgery.
Soft kitty, warm kitty, little ball of fur. Happy kitty, sleepy kitty, purr, purr, purr.

Thank you Flan, it seems that nearly every time I see a post from you I need to rush over to my dictionary, Wikipedia, or Google to see what you are talking about. And you didn't fail me this time. I know of the position you mention but never knew its name (lithotomy). You'll make me smarter yet. :)

Dear Deanna,
Welcome to Earth my Alien friend

Bruising is caused by minute breaks in capillaries  and small blood vessels. Blood leaks out and cause a small hematoma (leak of blood). It clots quite quickly and produces the typical dark bruise. If you don't bruise either your minor blood vessels are tough little critters or you will get larger blood blister like formations, probably indicating a clotting problem. I think this will have been picked up by now 'cos it's serious.

Several things come to mind, get your Dr to test your clotting factors (probably a waste of money). Take advantage of it by becoming a pro boxer . Don't worry about it. I'd go for the later :-*

Thank you Earth friend Cindy, :)

I have seen blood blisters before - the worst being a fellow martial artist who, in a tournament, walked face first into a kick and ended up with a huge blood blister around his eye. Fortunately, I have never had that problem. So, I am going to go with either the "tough little critters" or the alien thing (I assume I do have blood, I will rarely cut myself badly enough that red liquid leaks out).

As for your recommended options. I can find much more productive things to do with the little money I have than test for the clotting thing - if it hasn't been a problem in 48 years, then its likely not a problem. Pro Boxer is off the table too, I'm too much of a pacifist for fighting. Although I did study martial arts for 7 years (black belt), never used it/needed it. An lastly, Don't worry about it. Gotcha there, not worried at all, just simply curious and mildly amused. I was posting this more out of wondering if I am as strange and bizarre as I've always thought or if anyone else is from the same planet as me. :)

I don't really know if want things to change with HRT or not. I kind of like that I can get banged up and not have anything to show for it. But, on the other hand I almost would like that transitioning would make me bruise - there just seems something intriguing about the idea of a bruise, or maybe having a bruise would make me feel a little more normal? Not sure - more curious than anything.

Thanks for the responses.
