Rachel Weisz Speaks Out on Gender-Bending Kusama Film

Karyn Kusama -- director of Jennifer's Body -- told io9 last September that she was moving to a new type of horror in, as she noted, "the David Cronenberg tradition." She described it as "a body horror movie that deals very, very specifically with our concept of gender," and revealed that Rachel Weisz was set to star. A passion project that's been in the works for years, Kusama gave more details to MTV a week later: "basically it's an amazing role for Rachel in which she basically plays two characters, or essentially two halves of the same character, but she is both male and female."

So, where does it stand? Rachel Weisz has given the site an update on the project and more explanation on how this gender-bending will play out. Unfortunately, it's not in the works any time soon. Weisz says "there are no immediate plans for it," and that it could take "awhile" for this flick to happen. She does, however, share the title -- Invisible X -- and describes it as the story of a man who turns into a woman, which is a wee bit different than a Jekyl/Hyde, half-and-half scenario the last description suggested.
