what's your favorite genre of music?

I was partly joking, but I don't like when people get caught up in 'genres'
drawing different assumptions from a certain song or hearsay. This often
results in the sub-conscious pigeonholing of music that the person hasn't
even heard.

what is pigeonholing? sorry if I sound stupid for asking XD

It's when people think that a band (or person) should stick to a certain style of music. It can apply to things other than music as well.

Ohhh don't get me wrong, I love pretty much everything. It's just that some specific sounds agree with me more than others

That's excatly how i feel about trip hop.
i don't have a specific band that i like over the others.
anything trip-hop is compelling to me just because of the hypnotizing style

There are certain genres I have a fondness for because of my childhood, but I love pretty much everything. I don't think the nostalgia makes me consider them better over other ones in personal taste, though.
