GLAAD Shares Community Concerns About Last Night's Family Guy

The episode has ignited significant controversy among the LGBT community with the predominant opinion being that the episode was incredibly offensive to transgender people.
Queers United, AfterElton, Queerty and several other blogs have written about the episode and GLAAD has been contacted by community members concerned about scenes such as one in which food prepared by Ida is thrown in the trash by Lois Griffin and another in which Brian Griffin vomits after having sex with Ida and learning about her transgender identity. One community member also expressed concern about a later scene that implies that transgender people are sex offenders and should be classified as such.

Family Guy's Transphobic Mother's Day Episode

The episode called "Quagmire's Dad" was about a big life change for his father, a recognized Navy war hero veteran. The episode is filled with homophobic and transphobic language and judgment.
It starts off with the father coming to town and Quagmire's friends commenting on how "gay" the father seemed, because he exhibited gay stereotypes including an (effeminate voice, desire to entertain, drinks Cosmo's, etc). When Quagmire confronts his dad he admits he admits he is not gay but really a woman trapped inside a man's body.

GLAAD Concerned Over Family Guy

The episode featured scenes in which Lois Griffin instructs her daughter, Meg, to throw out a dessert that Ida brought to their home and another in which Brian Griffin vomits profusely after it is revealed that he had sex with Ida.
