Hey guys!! I appealed to my endo yesterday for chest surgery and he said it will be discussed at the next gender panel meeting. I cant see any reason why it wont go through so i am hoping for some good news this July!!

But i could really do with more onfo on it and want to talk to people in the UK who've already had it done! My endo (Dr Kevan Wylie) isn't the most informant of people i feel. Pretty damn sure i'll get better luck looking into it myself rather than askign him about it all lol. And tbh, i dont know all that much :-/ I've in the past watched vids on youtube, but from all the excitment combined with "OMG SURGERY! I'MA CRAP MYSELF" all info i gather doesn't tend to stick >_>

By the sounds of things, it'll be done in leicester (SP???) so if anyones had their chest reconstruction there i'd like to know how it all went and if possible i'd love to see pics so i know what to expect. What kind of care am i going to need afterwards? And how am i going to get back from the hospital?? lol A taxi would cost a bomb and i know public transport could be painful! Also, who went with you when you had it done? Because i honestly dont know who would actually accompany me :( I have friends, but they all work except for one because she has her own health problems and i feel asking her wouldn't be fair. My mum's pretty damn useless and i dfont like asking her to have time off because she doesn't get paid a whole deal anyways and i know she needs the money! So i have all these worries and I honestly got no idea how it's all going to go down!

So, just wanting you all to bombard me with info and all your own personal experiences, please! :)

I don't know how they handle it in the UK, but in the US you're not supposed to go home alone after surgery like that. Not even in a taxi. It takes a while for anesthetic to work its way out of your system. Aftercare also depends on the type of chest reconstruction you get, do you know which you'd be getting? Hopefully someone who's had experience across the pond can weigh in. Good luck, I hope the surgery will get arranged for you.

double mastectomy is what i'll be having.

And i do intend to drag someone along with me to be there with me and to come home with me. But it's just finding who. The best situation is that the op will be when i've finally got a job AND a house because me and my mates are getting house together and they said they'd book time off work for me. But if i'm still at home then i doubt i'll feel comfy.

If it's Leicester, it's probably Mr Ward, he's generally seen as the "specialist" for ftm chest surgery.
