Donna P. smiled and said hello before the press conference to me and I recognized that she was a transgender woman, a fact that she is open about. But that fact has resulted in her unemployment, which she revealed today at the National ENDA Action Week press conference.

National LGBT leaders highlighted the need for the passage of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA) and the inaction of Congress thus far to pass it at a press conference in Washington, D.C. Donna was one of ten speakers who spoke of the importance of ENDA to LGBT people, because for some, their livelihood depends upon it. It's an interesting experience watching a woman speak about what is my worst fear, and is her reality.
