The Aurora political scene will sport a little less grace now that Aurora's first and favorite transgender politician is headed to Washington D.C.

Two-time city council candidate Pam Bennett says the recession-struck job scene has taken its toll on her finances, and despite her attachment to Colorado's third-largest city, she's off to join the legal scene in D.C.

Surely you remember the very unforgettable Pam. We made acquaintance back in spring of 2007. I'd heard rumors that a transsexual was considering a run for a city council seat that fall. It's the stuff that journalist dreams are made of. Think of the controversy. Think of the angles. Think of the column fodder.
