When you judge others, you do not define them, you define yourself.

The GOP are certainly full of hypocrites! Their socially conservative ideas come back and bite them in the butt. If people would simply let others live how they want there wouldn't be scandals like these.

Why do you think it is called the Grand Old Party.   ;D  The same old "do as I say not as I do" theme.  And they think that they are so moral.

Do you remember the "Ten Commandments"?  You have broken half of them I think.

I have to wonder if, in the face of this stupidity and the continuing GOP, "we're a Christian nation" rhetoric that is in the right wing news machine (Fox), maybe the upcoming election won't be such a republican landslide as is expected? As a former, conservative republican (mostly modeled after the ideals of Ronald Reagan and not those of Shawn Hannity's dillusion either, or Bill O'Reilly) and now a conservative libertarian independent, I have this feeling that the voting populace might not be as eager to put these nut-jobs back in power!

You may be proven wrong about that since people tend to fall for the same pack of lies over and over again.

What I found pathetic was Souder's resignation speech.  Here this guy is having an affair with his employee but instead of being a stand up guy and admitting he shouldn't be telling others how to live their lives while he couldn't follow his own advice, he turns the tables and criticizes others who have "fallen" but didn't step down right away, thereby trying to elevate himself over the other "sinners".

Pathetic!

These people make a living by passing judgment, giving advice they can't follow themselves, working to deny citizens of their Constitutional rights and just making the lives of others THEY DON"T LIKE difficult if not miserable.  But when they get caught they get in front of the camera and cry for forgiveness.

Mr. Souder, maybe you should just stop trying to portray yourself as some moral crusader who is going to make the world a better place to live.  All you do is make the world a worse place to live.  And a lot of people are hurt by your actions.  Good riddance!

While my reaction isn't very Zen, I think it's important to take people like this and use them as a reminder that it's wrong to campaign against the civil rights of others because "they are immoral" (or whatever spin they put on it).  They need to be a reminder that we should stop passing judgment on others and instead embrace one another as fellow human beings.

I'm not much of a believer in the bible as a religious book but when things like this happen I keep hearing the 'beware of false prophets' quote.  Apparently they are all around us and they are wearing robes, collars and the skin of "moral men".  That devil is a crafty one, isn't he?

I am with you Julie!

I think the people who try harder to show their 'values' are the worst offenders of their values. Same thing for homophobes. The more homophobic the gayer they probably are. Of course this is not data from a scientific study and it merely my opinion.

Some of the worst offenders of Xtian values are those who hold them so high.  Adulterers, child molesters, thieves and murderers.  And this is how they want others to follow them?  Gods forbid!

Fro the homophobes and transphobes, Shakespeare said it best.  "Me thinks they doth protest too much".
