voice problem.

I've been working on my female voice and I think it's moving along certainly far from perfect however when I use it, it feels like I'm only using a small portion of my voice box. however this phlemy gunge keeps collecting in the bits of my voice box that I'm not using when I speak.
This Results in me coughing all the time. Although the gunge is only in portions of my voice box that I'm not using thus dosen't really actually effect my voice and my vocal cords aren't tired as such... I can just feel the slime in the front of my throat and it feels uncomfortable.
A sudden heat wave here in the UK has suddenly made it like 3 times worse with pollen and runny noses itching my throat aswell... aggravating hay-fever ¬.¬

Am I doing something wrong?

I have the same problem at the moment, but I also live in an area that is particularly bad for tree pollen..

..I'm just slowly working through the med options with my GP to see if anything will work...

I get the same phlegm thing but mine is from smoking.  I hear tea with lemon and honey helps.

BTW I like the new avatar.  You're a real cutey.

I get that phlegm as well, but only when I work on my girl voice (not that often due to other stuff  ) and when I drink milk.  No idea how to stop it and would also love to know!

Water and more water. Drink it often, this helps things a lot. I take an antihistamine everyday, along with decongestants. This, however, necessitates drinking even more water.

Having been on some interviews lately, I'm not shy about walking in with my own water bottle. It has helped me keep my voice going if I have to be speaking a lot.

I've been coached not to try and 'clear' your throat, as well. Of course, I keep more nose cleared as best I can, too. For me, dairy products are a no-no if I'm expecting to be doing much speaking, as is coffee. Coffee dries out my throat. Spicy food makes my nose run sometimes, so I have to be careful there too.

I've had that phlegm my entire life, and I just learned within the last few months that I've been speaking with my "girl voice" my whole life.  I didn't even know I had a guy voice until I was trying to figure out my range and it slipped down there.  So weird    I finally understand why everyone is telling me I don't have to work on my voice though.

I'd like to think I would have found a way to get rid of it if there was one   Talking for a little while seems to make it recede for several hours, but it always always always comes back, no matter what I do.

Thank you for the compliments a friend took a snapshot of me while I was excitedly explaining something on Skype.

I never quite understood the water thing because I don't swallow into my lungs and it's my lower larynx which is gooey O-o Chewing on lemon dose help must go get more of those.

As for how I judge how my voice is coming along I play online games like Left 4 dead 2
Although your gender is seldom mentioned someone will refer to you as your gender it also forces you to practice the whole range of emotions like Surprise anger and so on.
I seem to generally be considered female based on my voice.

Then later on when my voice gets tired.
"Her... Him... It... Them... I hmm... No pebbles is defiantly gotta be a girl guys don't speak like that."

:/ But my throat was getting tired by then. If you speak while someone else is you will hear your own voice on the fly and get a vague assessment.

I thought i'd try something different for my throat...the twinning lemon and ginger tea works really well...guess I'll be stocking up with that at work after christmas. hehe

I also had suffered from nasal allergy since my childhoos and coughing/phlegm since I started smoking.

According to oriental medical science, those problems in respiratory organs arise when our lung becomes too weak. As I started running outdoors regulary, those problems virtually disappeared. Even allergy to pollens can be dramatically relieved by doing some exercise that can strengthen your lung.

Actually, I noticed that too!  My cardio workouts have helped tremendously  and I never really thought about it until you mentioned that.  Singing a lot and training my voice for singing has help quite a bit too
