This story is a bit old, but too good not to share. Amidst all of the queer and gender non-conforming panic around prom season (remember Constance McMillen?), Derrek Lutz's story was buried.

If Derrek had identified as male as well, I would have declared this outcome an unconditional success, as King would have then been truly fitting.  However, Prom Queen may have caused more problems than it solved, so... it's probably the best outcome available this time around.
