What type of hair cut?

I want to get my hair cut soon to look more androgynous or masculine. But I have a total lack of fashion sense, its not really about passing for me, I just don't wanna look like a dork. I have about two feet of hair now(down to my waist-my hair has never been cut), and I want to lose at least 12in, down to cutting it all the way to almost nothing. I just don't want to be completely bald/smooth. The only problem is, most styles I like most likely are not gonna work with my hair. I'm afro american by the way, I'll see if I can't add a pic so you can see what I've got(or don't got) to work with. My hair can be straightened to work with most styles for other hair types(as long as its not too short).

Or there's always cornrows, which can be completely androgynous and would let you keep a lot of the length of your hair if you wanted to.

Mm, I don't think I could pull off the twists, but I do like the fade and Mohawks are always awesome.   Thanks for the help mates.
