A few binding questions..

I haven't been binding for that long, and I was just wondering a couple of things.

The binder I wear has stretched a bit since I first got it, and the initial "this is tight" and "this is a little odd" have gone completely and this binder is the only undergarment I wear. As well as it helping with my self-confidence, it just feels really normal on. When I go to sleep I often find myself wondering if there is any harm in sleeping in it; I've read that you shouldn't do it, but I don't really know why. I know you can get horrible things wrong with you if you bind too hard, but I don't, and I often wear this binder for more than 12 hours with no uncomfortable-ness or trouble breathing/doing anything at all. And the only things I've came across where people have had trouble with their binders, either through cutting into them or not being able to breathe well are because they wore a size too small, or they wore two binders at once, or used bandages. Then I've read about guys being in their binders all the time and I assumed they slept in them. So I have mixed feelings as to whether it would end up hurting me, and then I'd have to stop wearing it for a while. So what do you guys think? Do any of you sleeping in your binder?

Also, which way do you find best for putting on your binder?
Personally I find it easiest to step into it and pull it up, the other way I have real trouble getting it over my chest because it's painful, since I have a fairly large chest, but once it's on it's okay. I've heard that stepping into it can stretch it even more, and cut it's lifespan down a bit though.

You could stop breathing in your sleep if you wear it to bed. You can develop sleep apnea which can become pneumonia.

I wear mine for 8-10 hours. I've got one that is considered the right size but it's uncomfortable due to my body type and can cause pain if I double up (flip the bottom so I get four layers of compression instead of 2). Stepping into it is easiest because I have everything bunch around my armpits which is very hard to pull down. Body shape determines the right way to put it on. A small chested guy with not broad shoulders and big hips would stretch it out easy by pulling it up but if you've got a large chest and big shoulders pulling it up is better.

Woah, thanks Nygeel. I had no idea about that.. I won't be sleeping in then.

The actual compression part of my binder isn't long enough to double over, and I'd never wear my two binders at once to get a an even flatter effect. I tend to spread everything downwards because I hate it bunching up near my armpits.

I've never had problems with Underworks, in spite of wearing them nearly 24/7. I've only had problems with bandages, belts, etc...The underworks ones cut into me a bit, but it's a small trade off to feel comfortable with myself.
