Quoting unnamed athletics sources, eNews reported last night that the International Association of Athletics Federations had given Semenya "the green light to run again".

The TV channel said there were no medical reasons to prevent the 800m world champion from competing on the international stage as a woman.

South Africa's sports ministry have cancelled a press conference at short notice to announce a decision on women's world 800 metres champion Caster Semenya's possible return to competition.

South African Semenya, 19, has not run competitively since undergoing gender tests at the Berlin world championships last August.

The public relations company
organising the briefing said they had been told to cancel it but the ministry furnished no reasons for the move.
