My hair is slowing down. 2 years ago had I left my hair alone for about a year it would probably reach my shoulders. Haven't cut it in almost 6 months now and it's barely not even passed my ears. (awkward unmanageable middle length)

Also my hair is thinning on the top and my hairline is receding! I'm only 20! I blame my dad >:( That baldy.

The point is it's a combination of genetics, hygiene (too much washing is bad for hair as well), and general health. Low metabolism = slow hair growth.

if you're transitioning it might also be stress and hormones.
better start saving for transplants.

At 5 inches! After 3 hair cuts in 7 months, since being completely buzzed cut... I have decided to grow it out, and believe me, it is long.  Really love it so far, and if I style it, it is 'passable' hair wise.

My hair goes a little past the bottom of my armpit and when I straighten it, it goes down further. I've been growing it for 2 years now and it seems to grow really fast when I cut it but after it grows for a while...It seems to slow down.

I could sit on mine. Somewhere  on these boards I was told to cut it so I cut off 2 feet worth. I have regrown about 1 foot of it so it hits my waist again. It is oilier on top but you only wash the top anyway. Hair oil treatments for the rest. Don't use blow dryers, dyes or perms and it will grow about 1/2 inch per month on average.

In agreement with LordKAT.

My hair has grown from the beloved "boot camp" military cut, down to my collar bones in approximately 2 years.  Though that's not record speed I imagine, I trim my hair just to keep it even and cut split ends about every four months.  Normally use shampoo and conditioner twice a week.

Another thing I have started to do in the past year is avoid the shampoo/condition/blow-dry at the salon/hairstylist.  But that's just me.

Best wishes with your hair care!

My hair grows quickly in every dimension except down. I end up looking like a loo brush in about a month :P ??? :'(

My elder sister always wanted curly hair, I always wanted straight. Guess what happened ::)

Funny how that works, most people I know want the opposite hair of what they got when it comes to curls.

I try scalp massages and was hoping the summer whether would speed up the process but, as of yet nothing dramatic has happened.
