I am looking at music right now, and I believe right now till about 2014, that the market is open for something huge and new. There's no major artists right now that are lasting, and the old crop of pop artists are going out (Christina, Rihanna, and more). The new ones like Katy Perry, Gaga, and Kesha are only selling singles, which is like the early 80's.
Auto-tune, dance beats, which is like the disco era. There's no major male pop artist like a Michael Jackson today, and there's no true queen of pop nowadays. Like Britney Spears did in early 2000s. Madonna will always be known as Queen of Pop, but she's not modern anymore and she can't be number one forever and ever. She's just a legacy.
If the market continues this, about 2012 it's going to be like "We need something new", and that something new is something opposite of what is today.
Today's music is drunk, party, spectaculars, and teenyboopers.
My prediction is that the biggest artist will arrive in mid 2012, make it huge in 2013-2014, and reshape the whole music industry.
The music industry needs another Thriller or Like a Virgin, it's the time now for a new pop era.
