For my daughter they didn't use a strait jacket, they used what they called a taco. They would roll her in a blanket type thing so she couldn't move her arms or legs and then in the time out room.

Well, me being over the age of 18, I can legally seek medical assistance for anything without parental consent, so when I went to the doctors for a referral to see a psychologist, I had no objections from my parents. They didn't even know. My psychologist helped me understand my feelings about myself, and why I do and say some of the things I do and say, and with that, I solidified beyond a doubt that I needed to transition and that I am what I am. My psychologist also helped me to uncover my hidden feminine self, through all the masculine personas I had created for self preservation, and as well, he also helped me with coming out to both of my parents.
It took about 8 months of counselling 2 sessions a month to get there, now I am not seeing him anymore, I can't afford to.

I have just enough money to see my Psychiatrist, Endocrinologist (Hormone Guy) and get my hormones as well as pay my bills, thats it.

I would seriously recommend that people seek psychological assistance before deciding to transition, it really helps to clear everything up! :D

Im thinking of just asking my mum to take me to a psychologist before I come out to her. Anybody else ever happen to try this? What was your parents reaction???

I think this is the only way im ever going to get somwere.....

I think that's a good idea. If you get comfirmation from a specialist it may help your case?

I didn't have a coming out period as such and have always been much the same as I am now, but many are forced into a strict male persona by parents or society without any form of self expression or personal development.
