travelling after surgery

Hey guys,

I know i've been asking a few qstns about surgery as im starting to get real anxious now that its only 58 sleeps away!
I wanted to ask, and i know its a bit late seeing as i've already bought my tickets, if there would be any problmes with travelling a week after i've had top surgery?  I get my surgery on Sept 1st then fly back on Sept9th...

I don't know anything specific to top surgery, but major surgery and lifting heavy things don't mix very well. If you have to fly at that time, you'll want to make arrangements for your bags to be lifted/stowed/carried by somebody else. If you're traveling with someone that's easy, but even if you're alone I think most airports/airlines have people who can help you at each step - just check in advance to find out what you need to do.

I think as long as the drains are out, no bags that would change with the pressure changes and you let someone else carry/lift baggages you should be fine

You might consult your Dr. on the whole traveling in a plane issue........

I had mine done on the 11th and flew on the 19th.  Even with not carrying anything, just the whole plane thing made my chest burn.   You don't realize how much you use your upper body, even if you aren't lifting or carrying anything.  Just take it easy and take your pain pills!

Just adding my bit. I arrived home today (after about nine hours worth of flying) at thirteen days post-op. I had DI if it makes a difference. I didn't hurt per se, but to be fair I only carried a light bag in one hand, as my parents were very firm in that they were handling luggage. Only thing I did notice was that the cabin pressure when taking off and landing (I had three different flights) made my nipples feel ... weird. Not painful, but strange. Once the plane was stable and steady, they were fine. But no pain.
