It appears I made some short-sighted choices in choosing my treatment team.

I have been under the treatment of an awesome therapist, who wrote my T-letter and has been wonderful in facilitating and guiding me through the process of beginning my transition.
She referred me to an equally awesome clinic through which I've obtained my hormones.

Now the problem.

My therapist is a certified clinical sexologist.  She's well-versed and experienced in the treatment of transgender persons [and very highly recommended in the area].

My hormone "doc" is an ARNP, a registered nurse who can diagnose and prescribe medications, licensed through the state of Washington.

To change my driver's license and birth certificate requires me to have certification from either a Medical Doctor [MD] or a Psychiatrist.

->-bleeped-<-.  Neither of the professionals currently managing my transition fall into either of those categories.
So now I'm between a rock and a hard place, of needing a THIRD doc to sign off on all my legal paperwork.  ::headdesk

I really should have researched this prior to starting treatment, but I was operating under the assumption that changing my birth cert would require surgery [which it did, prior to this month, when the Obama Administration announced major changes to the passport and Consular Report of Birth Abroad].  I always assumed that since surgery was a requirement, my surgeon could complete the paperwork.

Now surgery isn't required, but my current docs can't sign the paperwork.  Oy.

Has anyone been in a situation like this?
How hard is it to find a third doc to simply review your case history, confer with your treatment team, and sign off on the paperwork despite not being primarily involved in your treatment?
