I cannot believe this didn't make it into the news section.

What does this mean for us? Can you have a different sex on your passport than on your driver's license? Or, if I get a passport, and get it changed, will that automatically update with the SS office?

Even if it's only on the passport... which would be HELLACIOUSLY confusing for government documentation, it still means you can flash your passport around instead of a driver's license to identify yourself pre-op. This. Is. Huge.

Ack, I made the mistake of reading the comments in the article. I've got to stop doing that. -_-

EDIT: Actually, screw it. I need to blow off some steam. I made a Yahoo account just to comment in there.  >:(

This is really awesome news for a lot of us, especially those of us in states where there are barriers to changes on birth certificates and drivers licenses. The passport change does NOT update social security, but the social security admin has almost completely stopped sending gender based no match letters. Also, when seeking employment, you can present your passport instead of your drivers license. If you still have not been able to update your drivers license, then you can show a passport that matches your presentation and not be outed. This is going to help a lot of people.
