Haircuts

I'm thinking of getting my hair cut into a more masculine style, but I don't know anything about hair really. I'd like a faux hawk or something familiar but I'm scared that it won't go with my face/will make me read even more butch lesbian

Fauxhawks look stylish on bio men, but usually make transmen look like lesbians. It's a very bad move pre-T.

I would advise getting a regular short back and sides. Don't buzz it too close to the head as it will reveal the feminine skull shape.

Personally, I would have the short back and sides but leave a little more on the top.  I think that might be a little more flattering to your face shape, as it is to most.  However, not as much as you have now.  Perhaps half.

But I definitely agree with what Ryan said. I was worried that when I got a fluxhawk I might not pass and come off more as a butch lesbian (But went out last night and I did fine).

Definitely what Ryan said. "Trendy" cuts in general don't work too well for us pre-T.

(That being said, a short back and sides with medium length on top can be styled into a sort of weak fauxhawk so you can see what it will look like).

I have a fauxhawk style sort of.  Because I like it like David Tennant's  (see pic).  But yes, I sometimes fear it makes me look lesbian.

I say cut it haha. It'll always grow out. Your hair pretty short anyway, what's one more inch.

I'm pretty adventurous with my hair. I've had mohawks, a shaved head, long hair, everything in between and every color of the rainbow. Changing your hair is fun!

I generally do my hair in a fauxhawk, when I was still in High school it was my daily appearance.  I think it makes me look more masculin, and I pass 100% with that style.  I also believe it has more to do with a persons face and jaw line, and weather or not the hair cut would compliment the form.

I'd go with Shade's advice.  Its only one more inch, it'll be grown out in a month anyways, might as well play with it while you can.  Changing color makes a difference as well.

I find that bold hair colours often make pre-T transmen look like lesbians. Blues and greens seem quite popular, but I really think they hinder passing ability.
Not to rain on anyone's parade. I just don't think there are many styles that pre-T (and plenty of post-T like myself) transmen can pull off. Usually a natural coloured short back and sides is best. Something to square off the head shape.

I have hair like Matt Smith!  Unfortunately that just means I have hair like a girl.

I wish it looked as gorgeous on me as it does on him.

Unfortunatly short hair can also make you look even more feminin if it is 'too' short.  There is a very fine line between what will make you look masculin and what will make you look like a butch. 

Either that or you risk looking like a naked mole rat. (speaks from past experience)

You could also attempt to grow it out.  Shaggy hair is an 'in' style for guys, and can hide femminin features.

In my experience focusing on getting a haircut that makes you feel good and confident is way better than any style that's considered masculine/helps in passing.

Most fauxhawk styles can slick the top back to make it more of an older style flat top.

I don't have any experience in this since I haven't cut my hair yet, but I completely agree with this. I am getting a fauxhawk and risking looking like a lesbian because I would feel much more confident in myself that way than with any other style. If I got it a short and more masculine style that I didn't like, I would definitely be uncomfortable.
So if you're comfortable with a fauxhawk, get one. If you feel better with a more masculine cut, get that. It's all a personal thing.

What do you think would be a masculizing cut for me? I have no idea what kind of cut to get.
